
RESEARCH AGRONOMIST

We are seeking a Research Agronomist to join our team and help shape the agronomic voice of the company. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background, experience with precision agriculture tools, and expertise in soil science and weed science, along with experience in the execution and development of replicated trials. This role will lead the development of research trials and provide expert support to our Certified Crop Adviser Account Managers.
Main Duties
- Design and execute applied, replicated, field-based research trials focused on crop fertility and productivity across Washington, northern Idaho, and northeastern Oregon under the supervision of the Director of Research.
- Ensure the accurate and timely execution of research trials, including in-field operations, data collection, and analysis.
- Lead the integration of site-specific management practices across the company to enhance problem-solving capabilities and improve efficiency at the farm level.
- Serve as the first line of defense for Account Managers in diagnosing crop and product challenges, providing expert advice in a timely manner.
- Develop and communicate key research findings in various formats, including written reports, presentations, and technical discussions.
- Educate and mentor new Account Managers through training sessions, field demonstrations, and technical discussions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in soil science, agronomy, precision agriculture, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in agricultural research, retail agronomy, or technical support.
- Proven experience with precision agriculture technologies and data-driven agronomic solutions.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present effectively to both small and large groups.
- Proficiency in computer applications for record-keeping, research execution, and data analysis.
- Valid driver’s license required; ability to travel 20-30% of the time within the company’s market area (company vehicle provided).
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in various field conditions.
- Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- State commercial pesticide applicator license required or ability to obtain within a specified time frame.
