The McGregor Company will award scholarships to ten local high school seniors this spring. The long time regional family farm supply business has now provided 109 scholarships over a fourteen-year period to talented young future agricultural leaders in fifty-three rural communities of the Inland Northwest. Standing Tall for American Agriculture scholarships are the cornerstone, focusing support of agriculture at a most important level – students.

2016 Graduating high school seniors who will each receive a $1,000 scholarship are:

  • Marisa Lustig, Cottonwood ID
  • Anthony Wiley, Prosser WA
  • Madison Fisher, Wilder ID
  • Kenton Lyman, Colfax WA
  • Miles Maxcer, Moscow ID
  • Hallie Galbreath, Ritzville WA
  • Kayla Beechinor, Walla Walla WA
  • Alexis Andrews, Ellensburg WA
  • Chandra Maki, Colfax WA
  • Sydney Johnson, Ellensburg WA

Along with detailed applications, Standing Tall candidates submitted essays proposing methods that would dramatically improve ag literacy. The ideas proposed by these promising young people will be shared with our industry partners to create educational opportunities for everyone to better understand agriculture’s history and current economic, social and environmental significance. Knowledge of food and fiber production, processing and domestic and international marketing will continue to be the focus of the company’s ag literacy improvement efforts.

The McGregor Company offers crop production advice, products, seed, and application equipment to farm families in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. “We believe in encouraging young people to become future agricultural leaders—on the farm, in field research, in agricultural education and communication, and in the farm service world. Talented, dedicated young people are vital to the future success of the finest enterprise we know—Inland Northwest agriculture,” says Alex McGregor, President of The McGregor Company.
